English Essay-Charity Begins At School

  Tsunami is a horrible natural calamity which brings great misery to the victims. They lost their homes, dearest family members and properties. Everything seemed to be destroyed in the twinkling of an eye.
 
  Raju, a form 3 student with a kind heart, took pity on the tsunami victims when he saw news about tsunami. From the newspaper, he knew that many of the victims were still suffering physically and mentally. He tried to figure out a plan which could help the victims.
 
  Raju discussed with his best friend, Seng Kee.  Both of them felt sad for the tsunami victims. At last, they had a brilliant idea. They could organize a Charity Car Wash in school and donate the income to the victims. Although this might not be a great help for them, Raju and Seng Kee would like to give a try.
 
  With their effort, teachers and members of the English Club, decided to lend then a hand. They also approached the Principal to get permission. Unexpectedly, the Principal agreed immediately and promised to make an announcement about this activity during the assembly. Raju and Seng Kee were over the moon.
 
  After a long time of preparation, last Friday, the Charity Car Wash began. Raju and all his friends were ready for the task. All of them were very proud because they could help to raise money to help the tsunami victims. The car wash started at 8 o’ clock in the morning at the school car park. The teachers gave their full support. Some of the teachers generously donated more than RM10. Raju and friends washed their teacher’s cars efficiently and all the cars looked brand new after washing and polishing. Some students sponsored pails, hose, car shampoo and sponges which was a great help for them.
 
  The Charity Car Wash went smoothly. Everyone donated some money since they knew that the money is in aid of tsunami victims. After five hours of hard work, Raju and friends washed one hundred cars. Seng Kee was asked to collect the money. He kept the money properly in a small paper box. On the following day, they went to report the earnings to the adviser. The adviser of the English Club, Mr. Nielson was very pleased about the result.
 
  After a few days, Raju and Seng Kee brought the money to the newspaper press. They hoped that help could be sent to the tsunami victims through the press. However, unexpectedly they were praised and their names appeared in the newspaper the following day. Their photos were there too. Raju and Seng Kee were very happy and proud.
 
  That night, Raju and Seng Kee dreamt about the tsunami victims. They smiled and said “thank you” to Raju and Seng Kee. Raju and Seng Kee smiled, at the same time happiness filled their hearts.
